I have been thinking to write this review for a long time. As winters approach we start to feel need for moisturising our bodies. But I don’t like body lotions which are sticky or smell like nothing. Recently while browsing Nykaa I came across Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula body lotion. I have heard so much about this lotion, plus my love for chocolate made me want it. I ordered it despite having a big stock of body moisturisers.
The lotion comes in a simple white, sturdy plastic bottle. 400 ml bottle has pump dispenser but 250 ml bottle does not. I bought the 400 ml bottle for the convenience of pump mechanism. Bottle is travel friendly. It contains all the details which one may need to know about the lotion.
Lotion is very thick and buttery yellow in colour. It looks and feels like butter sans the greasy part. Fragrance is like cocoa butter and very pleasant. Initially it felt too strong. But after two uses it started feeling very pleasant and delicious.
Texture is thick and creamy but very light. It spreads well and is absorbed quickly. Does not leave a greasy film.
Cocoa butter has the reputation of fading stretch marks.I have used half the bottle till now and I can see the fading of stretch marks. It really soothes and relieves the dry skin. No reapplication is required if your skin is not too dry. For very dry skin you can use it twice a day.
The lotion retails for INR 545 (for 400 ml) and INR 425 (for 250 ml).
In very short time it has become my favourite lotion. And yes, I will keep buying it now. It has become a staple for me.
I highly recommend it. Just try it once and you will be hooked forever.
Today I am gonna review Santoor Light Moisturizing Body Lotion which I purchased along with Yardley Morning Dew Body Lotion (review here) . Though I had three body lotions to finish, still I cannot contain the urge to buy and try new products. So, this body lotion was bought totally out of greed 😉👿.
Price : INR 215 (for 300 ml).
Shelf life : 24 months.
My take on the product :
Lotion comes in a white and green plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. The look, color and graphics of the bottle look cooling to the eyes 😎. But pump stops working properly after half the lotion is used.
Lotion is white in colour and has gel like consistency. On application it feels watery but does not give any oily feeling. Fragrance is powdery-floral-soap like. There is nothing much to say about fragrance.
I tried to use this lotion in spring. It did not moisturise at all. Skin starts feeling dry again after 30 minutes of application. Ingredient list is full of chemicals. Sandalwood extract and aloe extract are at the bottom of ingredients. It shows how little amount of these ingredients has been used in the lotion.
It doesn’t get absorbed into the skin at all. Just sits on the skin and forms a film. If I wash hand with water even after hours of application, it is still there and gives a slimy feeling.
Not moisturizing at all. Not suitable for winters and for dry skinned people.
Does not get absorbed.
Pump stops working after half the bottle is finished.
Full of chemicals. Very little amount of natural extracts is used.
Overall verdict :
3/10. This is the worst lotion I have used till date. Does not even fulfill the purpose of a lotion. Buy it only if you want to apply some fragrant chemicals on your skin.
A quick tip :
I am using this lotion as a shaving gel to shave my legs. And it is working amazinglyyyyy….. It is the cheapest shaving gel ever 😉😉.
How are you all? Summer is arriving. Gone are the days of chilly winds and sunbathing. Body butters are starting to feel heavy on skin. So I thought of buying some light body lotion. I went for shopping and I intended to buy only one bottle of lotion. But I bought two, as they looked so tempting. One lotion from Yardley and another one from Santoor. Today I will review Yardley London Morning Dew moisturising body lotion.
Product description :
Yardley London selects only the finest ingredients for its products. The combination of Mandarin and Patchouli oils gives a fresh fragrance while the essential nutrients moisturise the skin giving it a softer and smoother feel.
The lotion comes in a sturdy white colour plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. It was 1/4th empty when I bought it. The lotion could have been contained in a smaller bottle. Therefore the bottle is unnecessarily bulky and not travel friendly.
The lotion is white coloured and gel like i.e. neither thick nor runny in consistency. Light texture and does not feel heavy on application. Fragrance is pleasant and quite musky. If you don’t like musky fragrance then it is not for you.
Moisturises well but large amount is required to be applied than other lotions. Staying power is an issue as it does not stay for long.
Light texture. Gets dried very fast.
Adequate moisture for summer.
Unnecessarily bulky bottle. Not travel friendly.
Not good for winters and for very dry skinned people.
Today’s post is not a review…… for a change. Instead, this is a haul post which I was planning to write for quite a few days. A few months ago I visited Udaipur which is a historical city in Rajasthan, to see a doctor in relation to some health concerns. I planned some shopping in advance and made my husband agree to it. Since it was July, heat and humidity were at their peak. We decided to go to a shopping mall and spend a leisurely afternoon there…..shopping and eating. 😃
The moment we entered The Celebration Mall (Udaipur), I started searching for a store where I can satiate my appetite for beauty products. Then I spotted The Body Shop.I was like 💃💃💃🏃🏃. There, I was introduced to the strawberry range which is one of my favourite fruits. I tried the Born lippy strawberry lip balm 🍓 first and I was hooked. So what products did I buy ?
The Body Shop strawberry shower gel.
The Body Shop strawberry softening gel lotion.(review here)
The Body Shop strawberry body mist.
The Body Shop born lippy strawberry lip balm. (review here)
The Body Shop liquid eye liner.
The Body Shop color crush shine lipstick (Shade No. 15, Fuchsia Flirt).
Fortunately, the eye liner and lipstick did not come in strawberry flavour. Otherwise, I would have bought that too. 😂😆
1. The Body Shop strawberry shower gel (250 ml)
It is soap free and contains cold pressed strawberry seed oil. Makes skin soft. Has strawberry fragrance but not like the real fruit. Fragrance is more like strawberry candy…..too sweet for my liking. But after one or two uses, I became used to it and then it started feeling very pleasant.
Price : INR 425
2. The Body Shop strawberry softening gel lotion (250 ml )
A very light body lotion with amazing fragrance. Smells like candied strawberry but very pleasant. It feels cool on application and moisturises well. Does not feel sticky……perfect for summers.
Price : INR 750
3. The Body Shop strawberry body mist (100 ml)
This is one of my favourite fragrances. It don’t think it actually smells like strawberries but definitely has a fruity scent. Also it is a single note fragrance.
Price : INR 795
4. The Body Shop born lippy strawberry lip balm
As you see, I have two of them……on the right side is the one I am using right now and on the left is an unopened backup. I think this perfectly explains my love for them. They contain natural beeswax and the fragrance is identical to freshly crushed strawberries. This one according to me is a must buy in the whole strawberry range.
Price : INR 275
5. The Body Shop liquid eye liner Black (3 ml)
This one is the costliest purchase in this haul. Even my husband urged me to use it up before it dries out 😅. It is jet black in colour and has a felt tip applicator which gives perfect winged eye liner.
Price : INR 895
6. The Body Shop Color crush shine lipstick (Shade No. 15, Fuchsia Flirt)
This is a neon pink colour but is quite sheer. Gives shine and a sheer wash of colour, like a tinted lip balm. It is so light weight that you forget that you have something on your lips.
Price : INR 895
So these were my purchases from The Body Shop. What products do you like? Do tell me in the comments.
A few months ago, when I went for shopping to my local grocery store I found a pretty looking bottle of body lotion. It was a beautiful white bottle with colorful graphics on it. It was Lotus herbals White Glow hand & body lotion. My body lotion was about to finish. So,I picked it and added it to my cart.
Product description :
It is a technologically advanced formulation that provides triple action on skin- LIGHTENING, WHITENING & BRIGHTENING with the help of rare fruit & proven plant extracts that penetrate deep into the skin to provide enduring action. The result, your skin looks soft, fair & radiant. How to use :
After shower, apply liberally all over the body. It is best to use on damp skin. Focus on dry areas such as elbows, heels and knees. How it works :
LIGHTENS : It lightens skin tone by reducing uneven pigmentation.
WHITENS : It unveils visibly fairer skin by reducing dark spots.
BRIGHTENS : It enhances skin’s radiance naturally.
Active ingredients :
Liquorice, Green tea and Grape extracts. Shelf life :
3 years. Price :
INR 295 (for 300 ml of product). Packaging :
This lotion comes in a beautiful white opaque bottle which has a pump dispenser. The pump has open-close mechanism, i.e. it can be opened or closed by turning the pump sideways. This mechanism makes the bottle travel friendly.
Graphics on the bottle are quite colorful, still the bottle looks classy. It looks very pretty sitting on your dresser. My take on the product :
The lotion is pure white in colour. Consistency is slightly on the runny side. But the pump efficiently controls the amount of product coming out.
Lotion has very pleasant floral fruity scent. It spreads on skin very easily. Initially it leaves a white cast on skin, but that subsides within a few minutes.
A major plus point of the lotion is that it has in-built SPF. It does not leave an oily film on skin and is best suited for summers. However, in summer it makes me sweat; so I use it in winters. My body skin type is Normal which is only slightly dry in winters. So I don’t need heavy moisturiser. But it will not be sufficient for people with very dry skin.
It claims soft, fair & radiant skin and visible results within 7 days of regular use. It made my skin soft but I can’t say much about fairness claim. It prevents tanning to some extent but didn’t make me any fairer. Well…..I didn’t buy it for whitening action either. Pros :
Pleasant floral fruity scent.
Very light texture.
Easily spreads and gets absorbed fast.
Makes skin soft.
SPF 25 is a major plus point.
Pump mechanism is very convenient and hygienic.
Contains liquid paraffin which is a kind of mineral oil.
Does not live up to the claim of fair skin. (Besides your skin colour is controlled by your DNA and not by any lotion or potion.)
Over all verdict :
It’s a nice body lotion with SPF. It makes skin soft. But don’t fall for fairness claim. Will I repurchase :
Of course I will. Until I find something better than this or my habit of trying new things gets the best of me…..
Thanks for reading.
Will soon be back with another review. Until then. …take care.
