POND’S White beauty BB+ cream review

BB cream or Beauty Benefit creams have become an essential part of daily beauty regime these days. They serve the same function but are cheaper than foundations. The plus point of BB cream is that it also contains skincare ingredients like antioxidants, vitamins etc. They are like tinted moisturisers. Lately, I had adult acne which left some scars and pigmentation on my face. I started to feel the need for covering those scars. Then, I decided to buy BB cream. As, I was experimenting with these, I didn’t want to spend a fortune initially. Thus, I bought this POND’S White beauty BB+ cream.

POND’S White beauty BB+ cream

Product description :

POND’S White beauty BB+ cream comes with Gen White cover formula. It helps reveal your perfect natural look. The first all- in-one BB+ fairness cream SPF 30 PA++ from POND’S the works from outside and inside. This cream is specially designed for Indian skin & helps give you

  • Instant natural glow on outside.
  • Lightens your skin and spots from inside.
  • Evens skin tone.
  • With SPF 30 for sun protection.
  • No clogging of pores.
  • Light, non-oily texture.

Price :

INR 140 (for 18 g).

Shelf life :

24 months.

How to use :

After moisturising, apply in small dots all over the face and neck. Spread evenly with finger tips.

My take on the product :

The BB cream comes in a white squeeze tube which has a silver screw cap. The tube comes in a pink and silver colored cardboard packaging. Tube has a beak like nozzle which lets out only the right amount of product.

Consistency of the cream is like a tinted moisturiser. It is smooth and spreads easily. Though the texture is not dry, but don’t expect it to act like a moisturiser. If your skin is dry and flaky, this will accentuate the flakiness and will look patchy. Thus, moisturiser is required before applying the BB cream.

This BB cream comes in only one shade, which is a major negative point. My complexion is fair and the shade does not perfectly match with my skin tone. It is slightly dark and looks chalky on me. So, I mix a very little amount of this BB cream in my moisturiser and apply it. In this way I don’t end up applying too much product and keep it as much natural as possible.

Coverage is not very good. It will work for you only if you have nearly flawless skin. But that’s what you get in this price.

Pros :

  1. Nice packaging. Looks quite classy.
  2. Pocket friendly.
  3. Contains SPF 30.
  4. Gen White formula. But I don’t see any changes in my skin tone.
  5. I don’t see parabens in the ingredient list.

Cons :

  1. Comes in only one shade. That shade too is not shown on the packaging. So, you get to see the shade only when you open the packaging.
  2. Not suitable for dry skin. But that problem can be solved by moisturising before applying it.
  3. Tends to settle in fine lines.

Overall verdict :

7/10.

Recommended only for the beginners.

Will I repurchase :

No. It does not match my skin tone.

Palmolive Ayurituel Joyous Shower Gel review

Namaste,

Today I am going to review a shower gel from the brand Palmolive.  I first came across Palmolive shower gels when I was doing my Masters and was living in hostel. One of my friends used to use these shower gels on summer nights. I was not into shower gels at that time, but once borrowed it from her. I don’t remember the name but it was some aromatherapy shower gel in a purple bottle. Ahhhh……summer night, splashes of cool water and the beautiful aroma of Palmolive shower gel……an unforgettable experience.

So, when I saw the bottle of this  Palmolive Ayurituel Joyous Shower Gel in my local store, I bought it immediately.

Palmolive Ayurituel Joyous Shower Gel

Product description :

Rediscover your well-being and inner harmony with Palmolive Ayurituel Joyous, inspired by the world of ancient Indian Ayurvedic traditions. Enriched with a blend of Indian Mulberry and Lotus flower extracts it helps clean and leaves your skin feeling nourished for a pleasurable experience.

How to use :

Pour a little shower gel on your wet loofah. Apply gently over wet skin. Palmolive Aromay Shower Gel can be used with a loofah or by hand. For best results, use loofah to work up rich, fragrant lather before rinsing off.

Shelf life :

24 months.

Price :

INR 160 for 250 ml.

My take on the product :

The shower gel comes in a curvy, transparent bottle which has a golden flip top cap. Graphics on the bottle are quite colorful and have an Indian touch. Packaging is very attractive and the bottle looks beautiful in your bathroom shelf.

Shower gel is light pink in colour. Consistency is a bit thick and gel-like. Fragrance is like a Lotus flower and very  intoxicating. I am totally in love with the fragrance. Also, the fragrance lingers on for few hours after the shower.

It creates a rich lather when used with loofah. If you don’t use loofah, you will have to use more amount of the shower gel which I think is wasteful. Since this is a gel, it requires more water to get rinsed off completely.

I have normal skin and I don’t feel the need of lotion after using this in summers. But in winters I need a light moisturiser after using this. Thus, if you have dry skin, you are definitely going to need moisturiser.

Pros :

  1. Attractive bottle.
  2. Very beautiful and intoxicating fragrance.
  3. Contains Indian Mulberry and Lotus flower extracts.
  4. Gives rich lather.
  5. Travel friendly packaging.
  6. Easy on pocket.

Cons :

  1. A bit drying.
  2. Contains SLS.
  3. Contains Polyquaternium-7 (a major con)

Over all verdict :

9/10.

Will I repurchase :

This is my second bottle. I will try other variants of this shower gel.

Thanks for reading. Stay happy.

Lotus Herbals Nutranite Skin Renewal Night Crème review

Hello everyone,

I am back with another review. This review is again for the brand Lotus herbals. This time it is a review of Lotus herbals Nutranite Skin Renewal Night Crème. This was my first night cream. Earlier, I used to apply a thin layer of cold cream on my face in winters. But then I came across an article which talked about the importance of night creams and I was so impressed that I went for night cream hunting the next day. There is a wide variety of night creams available in the market. But I love the brand Lotus from my experience with White Glow hand and body lotion. So, I decided to buy the night cream again from the same brand. Let’s see how it fared for me…..

Lotus herbals Nutranite Skin Renewal Night Crème

I obtained the above picture from the Web coz I threw away the carton long ago.

Below is the picture of my own jar though.

Lotus herbals Nutranite Skin Renewal Night Crème

Product description :

NUTRANITE is a luxurious nutrient-rich night crème that helps renew the skin while you sleep. It works with skin’s own repair and replenishment system to undo the damage caused by dehydration and environmental exposure during the day. It boosts skin’s resiliency, strengthens natural defences while restoring firmness and smoothening imperfections.

Active ingredients :

Naturally derived alpha hydroxy fruit acids (AHAs) derived from grapes, nourishing ginseng and lily nectar. It also contains wheatgerm oil, marigold extract, chamomile extract and almond oil.

How to use:

After washing your face apply a small amount of Crème all over the face and neck. Massage lightly in circular motion. Can be included in night time CTM routine.

Shelf life :

 3 years.

Price :

INR 375 for 50 g.

Packaging :

The crème was packed in a silver and blue colored carton. When I opened it is found a translucent glass jar which contained the crème. Jar was thick and bulky. Though it’s a glass jar, I think there is lesser possibility of breakage due to thickness. But the jar is quite heavy.

The lid is a screw cap which closes tightly. Also, there is an additional covering lid underneath the cap. So, there is no risk of spillage, if you are travelling.

My take on the product :

The crème is white in colour.  Consistency is neither too thick nor runny. Texture………how should I describe it…….it’s fluffy and light as a cloud.

The crème spreads very well on skin.  Thus very little amount is required for each use. It smells berry like and slightly citrusy.

Moisturises very well. Does not leave a white cast on skin. Instead gives a bit of glossy finish. Gets absorbed very fast. My facial skin is combination type which tends to be drier in winters. This Crème moisturises my skin well and gives a bit of tautening effect. However, it causes me breakouts if applied too much.

Pros :

  1. Light and fluffy texture  (as I said earlier. ….like a cloud).
  2. Does not feel heavy on skin.
  3. Pleasing berry fragrance.
  4. Moisturises nicely.
  5. Contains natural extracts.
  6. Fast absorption.

Cons :

  1. Bulky packaging. Jar is quite heavy.
  2. Glass container. Though it looks quite tough, but it is not unbreakable.
  3. Contains Light liquid paraffin and parabens.
  4. Not suitable for oily skinned people.

Overall rating :

8/10.

Will I repurchase :

No. I am eyeing Lotus herbals White Glow night cream ;p

Thanks for reading 🙂

Lotus herbals White Glow hand & body lotion review

Hi everyone,

A few months ago, when I went for shopping to my local grocery store I found a pretty looking bottle of body lotion. It was a beautiful white bottle with colorful graphics on it. It was Lotus herbals White Glow hand & body lotion. My body lotion was about to finish. So, I picked it and added it to my cart.

LOTUS HERBALS White Glow hand & body lotion

Product description :

It is a technologically advanced formulation that provides triple action on skin- LIGHTENING, WHITENING & BRIGHTENING with the help of rare fruit & proven plant extracts that penetrate deep into the skin to provide enduring action. The result, your skin looks soft, fair & radiant.
How to use :

After shower, apply liberally all over the body.  It is best to use on damp skin. Focus on dry areas such as elbows, heels and knees.
How it works :

  1. LIGHTENS : It lightens skin tone by reducing uneven pigmentation.
  2. WHITENS : It unveils visibly fairer skin by reducing dark spots.
  3. BRIGHTENS : It enhances skin’s radiance naturally.

      Active ingredients :

Liquorice, Green tea and Grape extracts.
      Shelf life :

      3 years.
      Price :

INR 295 (for 300 ml of product).
      Packaging :

This lotion comes in a beautiful white opaque bottle which has a pump dispenser. The pump has open-close mechanism, i.e. it can be opened or closed by turning the pump sideways. This mechanism makes the bottle travel friendly.

Graphics on the bottle are quite colorful, still the bottle looks classy. It looks very pretty sitting on your dresser.
My take on the product :

The lotion is pure white in colour. Consistency is slightly on the runny side. But the pump efficiently controls the amount of product coming out.

Lotion has very pleasant floral fruity scent. It spreads on skin very easily. Initially it leaves a white cast on skin, but that subsides within a few minutes.

A major plus point of the lotion is that it has in-built SPF. It does not leave an oily film on skin and is best suited for summers. However,  in summer it makes me sweat;  so I use it in winters. My body skin type is Normal which is only slightly dry in winters. So I don’t need heavy moisturiser. But it will not be sufficient for people with very dry skin.

It claims soft, fair & radiant skin and visible results within 7 days of regular use. It made my skin soft but I can’t say much about fairness claim. It prevents tanning to some extent but didn’t make me any fairer. Well…..I didn’t buy it for whitening action either.
      Pros :

      1. Pleasant floral fruity scent.
      2. Very light texture.
      3. Easily spreads and gets absorbed fast.
      4. Makes skin soft.
      5. Pocket friendly.
      6. SPF 25 is a major plus point.
      7. Pretty packaging.
      8. Pump mechanism is very convenient and hygienic.
      9. Travel friendly.

        Cons :

        1. Contains liquid paraffin which is a kind of mineral oil.
        2. Contains parabens.
        3. Bulky bottle.
        4. Does not live up to the claim of fair skin. (Besides your skin colour is controlled by your DNA and not by any lotion or potion.)

          Over all verdict :

          8/10.

It’s a nice body lotion with SPF. It makes skin soft. But don’t fall for fairness claim.
          Will I repurchase :

Of course I will. Until I find something better than this or my habit of trying new things gets the best of me…..

          Thanks for reading.

Will soon be back with another review. Until then. …take care.

            Hello everyone ☺,

Today I am going to review a body wash…… Lux Magical Spell Bodywash. I think Lux was the first brand that introduced body wash in India. But I started using body wash some 10 years ago. My first body wash was from this brand. …..Lux Soft Luxury Bodywash. I was in love with that. But sadly it was discontinued. Boo hoo hoo. ….

So, when I saw the new range of Lux Bodywash online. …I ordered it, hoping it to woo me once again.

            Lux Magical Spell Body Wash

            Product description :

With Lux Magical Spell enchant those around you with this intoxicating fragrances bodywash that lasts long after you’ve showered. Bathe your skin in this fine fragrance inspired by exotic blossoms at the peak of their bloom.

The bottle says that it contains fragrance pearls of Black orchid and Juniper oil.

Pour a drop of this fragranced bodywash and gently lather with a pouf. Massage all over your body to let the luxurious lather and its enchanting fragrance embrace your skin and senses all day.

            Shelf life :

            30 months.

            Price :

            INR 150 for 240 ml.

            Packaging :

The bodywash comes in a simple yet sturdy plastic bottle with a flip top cap. Bottle is travel friendly and all details are mentioned on it.

My take on the product :

The bodywash has a purple hue. Consistency is neither too runny nor too thick. Bodywash is creamy in texture. It lathers a lot even without loofah. A small amount goes a long way.

It rinses off easily and gives a squeaky clean feel. No slimy feeling.  My body skin is normal to dry in winters and it does not dry out my skin.

Scent of this bodywash is nice and has dark floral notes. I have never smelled black orchid,  so I can’t  say how much it resembles to orchid. But it is nice and not overpowering.

            Pros :

            1. Nice floral fragrance.

            2. Unusual color (purple).

            3. Does not dry out skin.

            4. Travel friendly packaging.

            5. Cheap price.

            Cons :

            1. Does not moisturiser either. Dry skinned people will need moisturiser.

            2. Contains SLS.

            Will I repurchase :

Maybe yes. But I want to try other variants also.
